a.. b.. c.. d.. and all the rest.
Following along with the AlphaTales series books, we tackle a letter a week to two weeks, gauging how the children are able to recognize, sound out, and print it. While we work on letters there’s reading, games, stories, songs, and manipulatives to work on.
Counting
Numbers are all around us, so we find ways to count, one to one correspondence, adding numbers on our fingers, and writing out the numbers.
Yoga
Physical exercise with fine and gross motors, using our bodies in new ways, stretching our muscles, and is something that the children really love to do together! A circle time favorite.
Theme Learning
Each month, Ms Natasha changes our classroom to be better equipped to learn new topics, this could be transportation and community helpers, fall and harvesting, fairytales, or the ocean. We believe that the classroom is just as much the teacher as the people and peers, and so it is wonderful to refresh our rooms and change the toys, decor, posters, books, and experiences.
Science and Sensory
We are often mixing up ingredients, making playdough from scratch, forming salt dough fossils of dinosaurs, playing in the mud with the worms, as well as making pretend volcanoes. Science is a chemical reaction that can be shown to the children when ingredients mix, when they cook with heat, or when we examine nature to better understand the world together.
Outdoor Play
Nature is a huge aspect of Clover Sprouts Learning, we value our yard, our play space, and the nature that lives in it. We often are raking leaves, having a water play day, planting seeds in our garden bed, painting our playhouse into a black haunted mansion, or running a car wash. The children are exposed to the elements, they’re able to get their hands dirty, and take pride in watering their plants at their school.
